Join our Council's operations team as a General Labourer, a dynamic role supporting essential infrastructure and community amenity projects across various departments, including Civil Construction and Parks & Gardens. This position requires physical fitness, dedication to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

🚧 Construction Labourer & Civil Works Support

  • Site Preparation & Maintenance: Perform manual excavation, trench digging, back filling, and compaction of earth using hand tools and small plant.

  • Material Handling: Load, unload, and safely transport heavy materials (soil, pipes, aggregates, tools, timber) around the worksite.

  • Trades Assistance: Assist skilled tradespeople (e.g., plumbers, carpenters, concrete finishers) with setting up equipment, mixing mortar/concrete, and general tasks.

  • Safety & Compliance: Implement and maintain traffic control (as accredited), conduct pre-start checks on equipment, and ensure strict compliance with WHS procedures (White Card required).

🔨 Concrete Finisher (Specialised)

  • Form work: Set up, align, and dismantle wooden or steel forms for pouring concrete for footpaths, kerb and guttering, driveways, and ramps.

  • Pouring & Finishing: Pour, spread, level, and screed wet concrete. Apply specialised techniques (floating, trowelling, stamping) to achieve a smooth, decorative, or textured finish.

  • Curing & Repair: Cut expansion joints, apply curing compounds, and patch/repair existing concrete structures and defects.

🌳 Parks and Gardens Labourer

  • Grounds Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance of parks, reserves, playgrounds, sports fields, and streets capes, including mowing, weeding, pruning, and mulching.

  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate small plant and equipment, such as commercial mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws (if certified), and hedge trimmers.

  • Horticulture: Assist with the planting of trees, shrubs, and seasonal flowers; maintain and repair basic irrigation systems.

  • Cleanliness: Collect and dispose of litter, green waste, and debris to ensure public spaces are clean, safe, and attractive.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven ability to perform sustained manual labour in varying weather conditions.

  • Current Construction Induction Card (White Card).

  • Valid QLD Drivers License
  • Preferred : MR/HR Driver's Licence (essential for operating certain Council vehicles/equipment)

  • Strong commitment to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and environmental standards.

  • Good verbal communication and ability to follow complex instructions.
